UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE · 5 MIN READ
Which six salary months determine unemployment benefit?
The monthly benefit is based on the average salary used for unemployment-insurance contributions during the latest six relevant months—not on take-home pay.
Benefit rate and cap
The monthly benefit equals 60% of the six-month average, subject to a ceiling of five times the regional minimum wage applicable in the final month of unemployment-insurance contributions.
The selected wage region therefore affects the cap, but changes the result only when 60% of the average salary exceeds that cap.
Filing deadlines that are easy to miss
The application must be filed within three months after employment ends. From 2026, employment and exclusion conditions are assessed over 10 working days, and entitlement begins on the 11th working day.
